Hello there,
A few years ago I published a book called The Gratitude Jar: A Simple Guide to Creating Miracles. I printed the smallest number of hardcover copies I could afford thinking, hoping, they might sell out sometime within my lifetime. My simple little story about keeping a gratitude jar with my then four-year-old son wasn’t what I considered to be a potential blockbuster hit at the bookstore.
But, I knew the book could help people and would find its place in the world eventually, so I crossed my fingers and let it go. What I wasn’t prepared for, however, was what actually happened after the book came out.
It started slowly at first, then began building steam—people were buying stacks of the book and giving copies to everyone they knew.
I began getting messages from readers all over the world about how reading the book changed their life, or of the life of someone they'd given the book to, and how xyz incredible thing had happened as a result of using the gratitude practice inside its pages. I ended up quickly selling out of the first edition and had to arrange a much larger printing for the second.
As you can imagine, I was quite surprised.
But what was most surprising was what people were telling me they were buying the book for:
“My friend has Stage 4 cancer and is in the hospital, I think he needs to read this book...”
“She’s going through terrible postpartum depression and I know your story can help her…”
“My teenage daughter and I aren’t getting along and I feel like this practice will bring us closer together...”
"My son is in rehab for addiction, and I'm giving him this book to help him with his recovery..."
And on and on...the book was giving people hope.
It was humbling beyond belief.
To this day, I still get emotional every time someone is moved by the story and passes it along to someone to help them through a difficult situation, or just to give some hope things can change.
Things can change. I believe anyone, no matter what their situation, can change. I’m a testament to that.
I used to live at rock-bottom.
Not anymore.
And if I can change, you can too.
That’s what my books and this website are all about—giving you hope, encouragement, and the proper tools so that you can make changes that will uplift your life.
I invite you to browse around and see what resonates with and inspires you and I truly hope you find what you’re looking for here.
A good place to start is reading my books or browsing my Grateful Living Blog.
It's so nice to meet you! I'm so grateful you made it here.
